"All artists do some sort of self portraiture; whether they believe it or not" - Kehinde Wiley
From a very young age, I was fascinated by the beauty of the human face and form. Using those around me as models, I filled sketchbook after sketchbook with portraits before taking an actual drawing class. Eventually, my passion led me to Accademia Italiana in Florence, Italy where I studied Renaissance art history & illustration.
After that invaluable experience, I undestood that my enthusiasm for capturing the emotion filled faces I saw was actually an expression of myself.
I love creating portraits in multiple media. In the past, I have primarily used colored + graphite pencil & acrylic paint. Most recently, I am doing a series of fashion inspired illustrations for my blog that are completely digital.
In addition, I am also working on a series of paintings inspired by our armed services and the families they leave behind while serving our country. Expect an exhibition of this series in early 2011.
I am always available for commissioned pieces. If you are interested in working with me on a piece, please contact me!
